Enchanted Forest Wedding in Wakefield, Quebec

An enchanted forest wedding inspired by creativity, nature, and storytelling

Rachel and Jason first met while volunteering together at the Ottawa Little Theatre just before the pandemic and quickly became part of each other’s everyday lives. Over time, their shared love of creativity, imagination, and time spent outdoors naturally shaped the vision for their wedding day at Le Belvédère, where the surrounding forest and sweeping views of the Gatineau Hills created the perfect setting for their celebration.

With Rachel’s love of art and nature and Jason’s passion for storytelling and adventure, their wedding embraced a whimsical enchanted forest atmosphere that felt relaxed, meaningful, and deeply personal to them. Soft natural textures, thoughtful details, and the quiet beauty of the landscape all came together to create a day that felt both intimate and joyful. From their ceremony overlooking the hills to portraits among the trees and time spent celebrating with family and friends beneath the open sky, every part of the day reflected exactly the kind of celebration they had imagined together.

One of my favourite parts of photographing Rachel and Jason’s wedding at Le Belvédère was how naturally the setting supported the atmosphere they had envisioned. The ceremony space overlooking the Gatineau Hills created such a calm and emotional start to the day, and the surrounding forest gave us beautiful shaded portrait locations just steps away from the celebration. Having everything close together also meant they were able to spend more time with their guests while still enjoying quiet moments together during portraits.

Le Belvédère is especially loved by couples planning nature-forward weddings near Ottawa because of its panoramic ceremony views and peaceful forest surroundings. With multiple portrait locations on-site and a layout that keeps the ceremony and reception areas connected, it allows the day to flow easily while still giving couples space to step away for a few minutes together during portraits.

Favorite Details

Rachel and Jason’s wedding day at Le Belvédère featured enchanted forest–inspired details, soft florals by The Ochre Peony, and natural textures that complemented the surrounding landscape. Some of my favourite moments from the day were their ceremony overlooking the Gatineau Hills and the time we spent exploring the forested paths around the venue for portraits together. These quieter moments between events often become some of the most meaningful parts of a wedding day, and they helped create images that felt especially true to who they are as a couple.

Farrah photographed our wedding, and we couldn’t be happier with her work! From our engagement shoot, she made us feel totally comfortable in front of the camera. This carried forward into our wedding day. We are truly obsessed with Farrah’s work and cannot stop looking at our wedding photos. She captured every detail of the day perfectly. Her attention to detail and editing work are incredible, keeping every photo feeling natural but full of vibrancy. She is very chill to work with, in a good way! It felt like having a friend by our side the whole day. We cannot recommend Farrah enough and can’t wait to work with her again in the future to photograph new milestones.
