Fall is one of the most beautiful times of the year in Ottawa — and our fall mini sessions are designed to capture that magic in a simple, stress-free way. To help you get the most out of your 15-minute session, we’ve created this prep guide full of tips, outfit inspiration, and behind-the-scenes details.

The biggest question we get before minis is: “What should we wear?”
Stick to neutrals & earth tones: Think cream, taupe, camel, navy, olive, rust, or burgundy. These tones pop against Ottawa’s fiery fall leaves.
Coordinate, don’t match: Instead of everyone in the same color, choose a palette of 2–3 complementary shades.
Textures photograph beautifully: Knit sweaters, corduroy, linen, and boots all add depth.
Avoid logos & neon: Simple and timeless always wins.
Pro Tip: Lay out everyone’s outfits on the bed together before your session. If it looks good there, it’ll look great in photos!
We know family photos with little ones can feel overwhelming. Here are ways to make it smooth:
Plan around naps so kids aren’t overtired.
Bring non-messy snacks (like crackers or puffs) and water.
Pack a favorite small toy or blanket — it can comfort them and even be included in a photo.
Keep expectations light — mini sessions are meant to be quick and fun.

Our fall minis are scheduled around golden hour, when the light is soft and warm. Arrive 5–10 minutes early so you’re not rushed, especially if you’re wrangling kids or parking at busy locations like the Arboretum.
Each of our 2025 locations has its own vibe:
Dominion Arboretum – endless fall colors, classic Ottawa landmark.
Watson’s Mill – historic stone mill + riverside charm.
Old Quarry Trail – forest paths + golden light.
A. Y. Jackson Park – cozy wooded trails, perfect for families.
Long Island Lockstation (NEW) – bridges + water views.
When you book, you’ll receive a confirmation email with parking directions + exact meeting spots.
Ottawa weather can be unpredictable! If rain or heavy winds are in the forecast, we’ll be in touch to reschedule. Light drizzle is often magical, but we’ll always prioritize your comfort and safety.

Mini sessions are short and sweet — just 15 minutes! Here’s the flow:
Quick hello + getting everyone comfortable.
A few posed shots to warm up.
Lots of candid, playful moments — walking, laughing, snuggles.
Wrap-up and high fives!
We keep things fun, fast, and stress-free so you can enjoy the experience as much as the photos.
Prep outfits the night before.
Bring a backup outfit for little ones just in case.
Relax and trust the process — minis are about connection, not perfection.
Spots fill up fast every year.
